At Apple's Keynote during MacWorld Tokyo, John Carmack nonchalantly drop kicked the 3d gaming world to it's knees with a steel-booted punt to the groin.

Why is this important to filmmakers? Because it is the first tangible step on such a grand and obvious scale towards virtual actors and sets. William Gibson once wrote of garage Kubricks who would one day meticulously create worlds of unparallelled detail in which compelling characters will thrive -- that day is near.
